Police detain seven men in Ipoh call‑centre impersonation scam

Police in Ipoh's Taman Merdeka neighbourhood raided a call centre accused of impersonating friends to defraud victims in Japan. The operation led to the arrest of six Japanese men and one local resident, aged 22 to 58. Authorities seized 16 mobile phones, a laptop, a Wi‑Fi router and a set of house keys, with the total value of the seizure estimated at RM20,000. The six Japanese suspects were remanded for four days, while the local suspect was held for one day. The case remains under investigation.
