Police Detain Two Amsterdam Men Linked to September Overasselt Violence
Dutch police arrested two men from Amsterdam, aged 24 and 25, as part of the investigation into the large-scale violence in Overasselt earlier this month.
On Monday, Dutch authorities announced the detention of two Amsterdam residents, aged 24 and 25, in connection with the September 1 violence in Overasselt that resulted in one guard’s death and injuries to two police officers. The operation followed coordinated searches in Diemen, Hoofddorp and Amsterdam, where investigators recovered data carriers and two guns. A further suspect, a 19-year-old from Amsterdam, was also arrested, though investigators have not yet clarified his involvement.
In total, 32 individuals remain in pre-trial detention linked to the case. The property owner, Jan G., was also arrested on suspicion of participation in a nearly 3,900 kg cocaine shipment intercepted in the French port of Dunkirk on 9 September. A separate probe continues into the identities of the gang’s financiers, with the criminal underworld name ‘Bolle’ Jos Leijdekkers mentioned, a claim his lawyers deny.
