Police dismantle child prostitution ring earning RM5.4 million annually

Seven suspects linked to the Yunaa gang were arrested in a special operation, seizing condoms, birth-control pills and cash-flow evidence.

M Kumar, director of the Bukit Aman Crime Investigation Department, announced that a special operation between 24 and 26 September led to the arrest of seven men, aged 18 to 44, suspected of being part of the Yunaa gang. Authorities confiscated 33 boxes of condoms and six boxes of oral contraceptives, and noted that some detainees have previous records for drug offences, fraud and prostitution. Two additional gang members are held in Kajang Prison and at the Henry Gurney School in Melaka on child-trafficking and prostitution charges.

The gang allegedly recruited foreign nationals, children and local youths for prostitution in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, advertising via Telegram and reportedly servicing 20-30 victims daily. Estimated earnings reach RM5.4 million a year based on a daily intake of about 100 customers paying RM150 each, after paying victims. Nine suspects are set to appear before the Petaling Jaya Sessions Court on charges of belonging to an organized crime group.
