Police execute dozens of raids across Romania linked to violent shepherds' protest

On Tuesday morning, police teams from Bucharest and regional inspectorates executed 29 search warrants and 30 summonses across the capital and 15 counties, targeting individuals linked to the violent shepherds' protest. The operation is overseen by the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bucharest Tribunal and involves the Violent Crime Group and the Central Criminal Investigation Service. Investigators are examining possible crimes of public incitement, contempt, disturbance of public order, destruction and assault involving 40 victims, with ten suspects already under preventive measures.
Witnesses reported that some demonstrators hurled curbs, bottles, metal fences and pyrotechnics at gendarmes, assaulted officers with fists, feet and wooden clubs, and attacked two media employees on duty. Additional damage included the destruction of a police special vehicle and other property. The raids aim to collect evidence and document the full scope of criminal activity for prosecution, while respecting the presumption of innocence.
