Police fatally shoot man wielding pole saw after he advanced on officers in LA

A man carrying a pole saw was shot dead by LAPD officers after refusing to drop the weapon and moving toward them on a Boyle Heights street.

Police responded to a 9:55 a.m. call about an individual with a metal pipe near Gillette and Bridge Streets in Boyle Heights. When officers arrived, the suspect was seen holding a large pole saw with a 12-inch serrated blade. He ignored commands to surrender the tool and continued toward the officers, prompting one officer to fire. The suspect was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, and no other injuries were reported.
