Police fire on knife-wielding suspect in Rattelsdorf, Bavaria

Several witnesses alerted authorities to a disoriented 38-year-old man walking through a Rattelsdorf neighbourhood with two knives. Police launched a search, including a helicopter, and eventually confronted the suspect. After pepper spray and warning shots proved ineffective, the man advanced toward the officers while still holding a knife, prompting them to fire their sidearms, causing a leg injury.

Despite the wound, he continued to threaten the police, leading them to use an electro-shock device to subdue him. He was transported to a hospital for treatment. The Bavarian Landeskriminalamt, under the direction of the Bamberg public prosecutor's office, is examining the legality of the firearm use.
