Police hunt suspected gunman near Notre Dame stadium during Michigan State game

During the Notre Dame versus Michigan State football game, police received a call at about 7:37 p.m. reporting gunfire near the Eddy Street Commons district bordering the university. The university’s emergency alert warned that a suspect, described as a heavy-set Black male wearing blue shorts, a black shirt and one white shoe, was last seen on the southern perimeter of the campus. Law enforcement ordered spectators to remain inside Notre Dame Stadium and instructed everyone else on campus to shelter in place.
Emergency responders transported one person to a hospital, but no further information on that person's condition has been released. Authorities have asked the public to stay clear of the area while the search for the suspect proceeds. The incident occurred amid the ongoing game, adding safety concerns to the sporting event.
