The National Capital Region Police Office received a bomb threat sent via Messenger to a staff member at the University of Santo Tomas and is coordinating with campus security.
On Tuesday morning, the National Capital Region Police Office reported that a bomb threat was sent via Messenger to a staff member at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. Police Lieutenant Colonel Hazel Asilo described the threat as a possible continuation of an earlier warning that a bombing would be carried out. The police are collaborating with the university's security office and have involved anti-cybercrime units and explosive-ordnance disposal personnel in the probe.
Additional schools, including De La Salle University, University of the East, and Our Lady of Fatima University, have faced similar threats recently, though it is unclear if the same perpetrators are responsible. Security assessments and precautionary measures are being implemented to ensure the safety of students and faculty. Asilo warned that anyone found responsible for issuing bomb threats could face criminal prosecution under the Anti-Bomb Joke Law.
