Police lock down Craigieburn shopping centre after gunshots during machete standoff

Around 7:10 pm Thursday, police sealed off Craigieburn Central in Melbourne’s north after hearing two shots during a dispute between two groups of men armed with machetes.

Officers arrived to find the shopping centre under lockdown as the armed men fled the scene. A Victoria Police spokesperson confirmed that no one was reported injured and there was no evidence anyone was hit by the bullets. Investigators are seeking witnesses and have asked the public to contact Crime Stoppers with any information. One outlet has tried to reach the centre’s management for comment.
