Police pull 22-year-old from River Torrens after he fled a street brawl

Officers rescued a 22-year-old who jumped into the River Torrens to escape police following a fight on Hindley Street in Adelaide.

A scuffle broke out on Hindley Street in the Adelaide CBD early Saturday morning. When police arrived, one of the participants, a 22-year-old from Blair Athol, fled the scene and was later seen leaping into the River Torrens. Officers entered the water, lifted him to safety and handed him over to paramedics, who reported non-life-threatening injuries. The man was taken to hospital while police continue to investigate the altercation.
