Police release footage of getaway car being set ablaze after Melbourne murder
Victoria Police have published CCTV showing a vehicle being torched after the killing of 21-year-old Athan Boursinos, and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
On the morning of July 31, 21-year-old Athan Boursinos was shot dead in a back lane of a property on Champions Parade, Wollert, in what police suspect was a contract killing linked to an interstate crime syndicate. Detectives allege that two hitmen from New South Wales travelled to Victoria and were supported by two local men who arranged accommodation and provided getaway vehicles. The assailants escaped in a Nissan Patrol, which was later discovered burnt out on Amery Street, Reservoir, and police have now released CCTV of that vehicle being set alight.
The suspects then transferred to a stolen grey Volkswagen Golf, moved to a house in Dallas, and later switched to an Isuzu D-Max before dispersing, with two men dropped off in Reservoir and the others heading toward Glenroy; a second burnt car was found at Mickleham. Detective Inspector Leigh Howse has appealed for information on the four men believed to be involved, emphasizing that the motive remains unclear. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant details to contact CrimeStoppers.
