Police rescue 5-year-old in Cebu and detain mother and partner for online exploitation
Authorities rescued a five-year-old girl in Cebu City and arrested her mother and the woman's live-in partner on suspicion of exploiting the child online for profit.
The National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas led a raid on a house in Sitio Tambisan, Barangay Tisa, on Sept. 30, freeing the child. During the operation, a 25-year-old woman and her partner were taken into custody. The sweep was coordinated with Homeland Security Investigations Manila, the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development. Officials said the suspects allegedly used the girl for online sexual exploitation to earn money.
