Police say viral video of Bangladesh protest in Kuala Lumpur is AI-altered old footage
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus stated that a circulating video claiming Bangladeshis gathered in Bukit Bintang was actually AI-edited footage from a 2022 New Year celebration.
Authorities investigated a social-media clip that alleged a Bangladeshi crowd was demanding self-administrative powers for the Comilla region in the Malaysian capital. Datuk Fadil Marsus explained that the video shows the Selangor Foundation Building during a 2022 celebration and had been manipulated with artificial intelligence. He added that no such gathering has been recorded in Bukit Bintang from January to October of this year.
