Police seek driver after 12-year-old cyclist struck in Dundee hit-and-run

A 12-year-old boy was injured when a black Citroën van hit him on a Dundee crossing and fled the scene; police are asking for witnesses and dash-cam footage.

Police are investigating a hit-and-run incident in Dundee that left a 12-year-old cyclist with non-serious injuries. The crash happened around 6:05 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, at the A90 Kingsway East pedestrian crossing close to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service station. The boy, riding a black and blue bicycle, was hit by a black Citroën Berlingo-style van traveling south in lane two.

The driver did not stop and proceeded toward the Scott Fyffe Roundabout. Constable Emma Scott of Downfield Police Station urged witnesses and anyone with dash-cam footage to call the police on 101, quoting incident 3830 of 1 October, or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously. The child’s condition was reported as not serious.

Why it matters

Locating the driver is crucial for accountability and to deter future hit-and-run offenses.
