Police seize over RM3.4 million worth of heroin and MDMA in three Penang raids
Three coordinated raids by Penang police netted heroin, MDMA, ecstasy pills and ketamine worth roughly RM3.44 million, leading to six arrests.
During a series of three raids in late September, the Penang Drug Crime Investigation Unit recovered 8.83 kg of heroin, 15.06 kg of MDMA powder, five litres of liquid MDMA, 182 ecstasy tablets and 70 g of ketamine, with a total street value estimated at RM3.44 million. The first raid on 21 September stopped a 47-year-old man who led officers to a vehicle used for storing and processing drugs. The second operation on 22 September arrested two local men and a foreign woman aged between 27 and 42, who were linked to a nightclub drug supply chain.
The third raid on 27 September captured a 45-year-old man in Bukit Mertajam, yielding additional MDMA, ecstasy pills, heroin and ketamine. Six vehicles and cash worth RM58,000 were also confiscated, and all suspects were remanded for seven days pending investigation.
