Police shoot knife-wielding suspect during Lower East Side domestic dispute

A man brandishing a large knife attacked officers at a Lower East Side apartment, and a police officer shot him, leaving the suspect in critical condition.

Law-enforcement personnel were dispatched to a Manhattan residence on the Lower East Side following a domestic dispute call. Upon arrival, a suspect armed with a large knife charged at the officers around 4 p.m. One NYPD officer fired a shot, gravely injuring the individual. Emergency services transported the suspect to NYC Health + Hospitals, where he is listed as critically injured. A witness was also hit during the incident, but their condition has not been confirmed. Police secured the weapon at the location. The investigation continues as authorities review the confrontation.
