Police use taser and leap over car to detain driver after freeway crash
A man in his 40s was arrested after his red Ford Falcon collided with several vehicles on a Mitchell Freeway on-ramp, with officers brandishing a taser and one jumping over the car.
Police in Western Australia identified a red Ford Falcon linked to an outstanding domestic-violence case and observed it on Excellence Drive in Wangara around 8 am. The driver, described as a man in his 40s, is accused of striking a marked police vehicle before abandoning the car and later entering the Mitchell Freeway on-ramp at Warwick, where it hit several other cars. Dash-cam video supplied to the media captures the first officer aiming a taser—though it was not fired—while a second officer attempts to smash the passenger-side window.
The driver exits the vehicle, and a third officer jumps over the Falcon to join colleagues in subduing him. The suspect was pinned to the ground and faces multiple charges. Police clarified that they were not in pursuit when the crash occurred, and no one was injured.
