Police warn women after another body found near Johannesburg

A woman's body was recovered in the Kwa-Thema region, roughly 34 kilometres from Kempton Park, where she was found naked and highly decomposed. SAPS spokesperson Athlenda Mathe noted that, while investigators have not confirmed a serial killer, the resemblances to other recent cases warranted a public warning and a boost to investigative efforts. President Cyril Ramaphosa instructed police to prioritize the murder inquiries and called on citizens to provide any helpful information.

Recent discoveries include bodies in Olifantsontein and a missing jogger from Kempton Park whose remains were later located. The incident underscores South Africa's high rates of violent crime, especially against women, with recent statistics showing 5,427 murders between April and July and femicide among the world’s highest.
