At the State Policy Network’s annual conference in Orlando, Florida, attendees heard a series of breakout sessions covering a range of policy issues. A data-center discussion, featuring Vance Ginn of Ginn Economic Consulting, David McGarry of the Taxpayers Protection Alliance, and Jen Springman of the Goldwater Institute, emphasized applying existing industry regulations rather than creating new laws or taxes. The media-strategy panel, chaired by SPN senior director Corey Burres and media-relations director Camille Walsh, addressed concerns about partisan coverage and highlighted the importance of cultivating trust with journalists.
Another session, moderated by Informing America Foundation CEO Debbie Myers, explored how compelling research moments can drive media narratives, with input from leaders of the Center to Advance Security in America, the American Accountability Foundation, and the Capital Research Center. Throughout the week, speakers underscored the role of free-market principles and strategic communication in influencing policy across all 50 states.
