Polish coalition eyes tactical cabinet reshuffle ahead of election campaign

The governing coalition is planning a “tactical reconstruction” that could see the education, health and state assets ministers dismissed before the campaign starts.

Inside the ruling coalition, officials are preparing a “tactical reconstruction” of the government to energise voters ahead of the upcoming election cycle. The plan reportedly targets three ministers: Barbara Nowacka, who has been attacked for restricting homework in primary schools and slowing education reforms; Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda, whose health-sector overhaul, especially the reorganisation of county hospitals, has stalled; and Wojciech Balczun, whose management of state assets has drawn criticism.

Additionally, Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, minister of funds and regional policy, has already announced her resignation, prompting the prime minister to name two potential successors. The chief of the prime minister’s political office, Paweł Graś, is said to be closely monitoring the situation, and changes could also affect senior civil-service posts within ministries and the prime minister’s chancellery.

Why it matters

A cabinet shake-up could reshape policy direction and influence voter sentiment before the national elections.
