Polish energy allowance for veterans and widows to continue without income test
The energy flat-rate benefit paid by Zakład Ubezpieczeń Społecznych remains available to eligible veterans, forced-labour soldiers and widows, regardless of their pension or income level.
Poland’s energy flat-rate subsidy, administered by Zakład Ubezpieczeń Społecznych, is intended to help certain entitled groups cover energy costs. The benefit is not conditioned on the size of a pension, retirement or other income, meaning that exceeding a particular earnings threshold does not disqualify anyone. Eligible persons include combat veterans, those who performed compulsory labour in coal mines, uranium extraction plants, stone quarries or construction battalions, as well as widows receiving a pension or disability allowance.
The payment is recalibrated once a year, but the exact figure will be set after the annual index is determined. To receive the allowance, individuals must file an ERK application with ZUS, attaching documentation confirming their status, and may do so in person, by proxy, by mail, or through a Polish consular office abroad.
