Polish fuel price caps adjust Tuesday as tax cuts take effect

On Tuesday, maximum retail prices for gasoline 95 and 98 rise by a few groszy per litre, while diesel becomes slightly cheaper, following recent tax reductions.

Tuesday’s fuel price ceiling will see a modest rise for premium gasoline: nine groszy per litre for gasoline 95 and ten groszy for gasoline 98, while diesel will be reduced by four groszy per litre. The existing maximum prices are 6.97 zł per litre for gasoline 95, 7.85 zł for gasoline 98 and 8.06 zł for diesel. The changes follow a recent presidential decree that cut excise duties and VAT on fuels, a package that will remain in force until the end of 2026.

In a separate move, the president signed a law aimed at recapturing extraordinary profits from fuel firms, which has been referred to the Constitutional Tribunal for review. The energy ministry’s announcement reflects the government’s effort to bring retail fuel costs closer to promises made during the election campaign. The adjustments are part of the broader CPN (Ceny Paliwa Niżej) program that was reinstated to counter earlier price spikes linked to geopolitical tensions.
