Polish government opens applications for home energy storage subsidies

The Ministry of Climate and Environment announced that applications for the "Przydomowe Magazyny Energii" program are now being accepted, aiming to boost household renewable energy use and grid resilience.

Poland's Ministry of Climate and Environment has launched the "Przydomowe Magazyny Energii" program, with the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management handling applications from October 20, 2026 until October 1, 2027. The scheme provides financial support for installing battery storage units alongside existing rooftop solar panels, targeting private households that generate their own renewable electricity.

Applicants must own a micro-installation connected to the grid and meet minimum size requirements for both the storage device and the photovoltaic system. The goal is to raise self-consumption rates, lower reliance on the grid, and enhance the stability of the country's power system during local outages. Paulina Hennig-Kloska emphasized that the program aligns with broader climate and energy security objectives.

Why it matters

The subsidies could accelerate household renewable energy adoption and improve grid reliability in Poland.
