Polish officials debunk AI-fabricated drone image after real Russian drone spotted off coast

An AI-generated drone photo shared by TVP Info was flagged as false by the Kancelaria Prezydenta RP, while the defence ministry confirmed a Russian Gerbera drone was recovered near Rusinowo.

A fabricated AI image of a drone was disseminated by TVP Info, leading the Kancelaria Prezydenta RP to issue a warning on X that sensational pictures should be verified before sharing. The false picture was compared with genuine photos, revealing discrepancies in the hull design. Meanwhile, the Polish Ministry of National Defence, represented by Deputy Prime Minister and defence minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, announced that a Russian long-range strike drone, identified as the Gerbera model, had been located and retrieved from the Baltic Sea near the village of Rusinowo, close to Jarosławca in the West Pomeranian region.

Kosiniak-Kamysz posted an authentic image of the recovered drone and urged careful commentary. Reserve brigadier-general pilot Dariusz Wroński also posted the TVP Info screenshot, calling out the misinformation. Military units are now securing the site and the equipment.
