Polish officials probe possible Russian disinformation behind school false alarm wave
Poland's special services coordinator said authorities are investigating a potential Russian disinformation link to recent false alarms in schools.
During a press briefing in Stalowa Wola, special services coordinator Tomasz Siemoniak said investigators are reviewing every angle, including a potential Russian online disinformation effort, to explain the surge of false alarms in Polish schools. He warned that Russian actors often try to portray Poland as unstable and its authorities as weak. Recent incidents include a knife attack by a 15-year-old in Leszczydół-Nowiny that injured three people and killed a caretaker, a 19-year-old assault in Ostrołęka wounding nine, and a 21-year-old attack in Warsaw injuring three. Police have arrested youths who posted videos threatening further school attacks, and patrols are set to return to schools on Monday.
