Polish officials say US plans permanent military base, locations under US review

Through diplomatic efforts credited to President Karol Nawrocki, the United States is moving toward a permanent military presence in Poland. While early media speculation pointed to Poznań or Powidz, recent reports indicate those cities are no longer under consideration. A report identified three voivodeships—Dolnośląskie, Zachodniopomorskie and Lubuskie—as under review, with Szczecin emerging as a possible location, a view echoed by West Pomeranian governor Adam Rudawski.

Deputy defence minister Stanisław Wziątek told RMF24 that American analysts will finish their assessment in the next two to three months before a decision is made. Parliamentary members Robert Kropiwnicki and Andrzej Szejna expressed hopes for a base near Wrocław and for the deployment of an armored division, respectively.
