Polish security agency alerts regions to Russian air strike on Ukraine, then lifts threat
The Rządowe Centrum Bezpieczeństwa warned Lublin and Podkarpackie residents of a Russian air attack on Ukraine and Polish fighter activity, then later announced the danger had passed.
On September 24, 2026 the Rządowe Centrum Bezpieczeństwa issued a warning to inhabitants of Lublin and Podkarpackie about a Russian air strike targeting Ukraine, noting that the situation was under observation and that Polish military aviation was active in the country's airspace. The Dowództwo Operacyjne RSZ reported that fighter aircraft had been scrambled and that ground-based air-defence and radar units were on high alert to protect the nearby border region.
These actions were presented as preventive measures to ensure the safety of Polish airspace. Later the same day the agency sent a follow-up alert stating that the Russian attack had ended and that there was no longer any danger to Poland, although authorities continue to monitor developments along the eastern frontier.
