Polish security expert warns Europe must sustain Ukraine aid as US support wanes

Former head of Poland’s National Security Bureau Stanisław Koziej said Europe now bears the main financial burden for Ukraine after the United States halted its aid, and urged continued support.

In an interview, Stanisław Koziej, who previously led Poland’s National Security Bureau, argued that Europe must not abandon Ukraine now that U.S. aid has been paused and weapons are being routed through European allies. He stressed that the war threatens the security of the entire continent, making continued European financing essential. Koziej pointed out the limited availability of Patriot PAC-3 missiles, noting that European stockpiles are low while U.S. reserves are largely depleted, creating a pressing shortfall for Ukraine’s air defence.

He advocated for Ukraine to boost its domestic production of such systems, believing it could outpace Europe’s ability to develop the necessary industrial base. The interview also included remarks from Serhii Beskrestnov, a presidential technology adviser, who said SpaceX had imposed speed restrictions on moving Starlink terminals overnight without notifying Ukraine’s defence forces.
