The detention followed a warrant issued by Kathmandu authorities, and officials escorted him to the capital for processing. Dahal had been on a trip to eastern districts since September 18, holding political discussions and preparing to travel back to Kathmandu.
His supporters describe the move as a crackdown on his outspoken views and accusations of systemic flaws in Nepal's governance. They also warned that recent state actions suggest a drift toward authoritarianism. Police have not publicly revealed the charges or legal basis for his arrest.
