Poll Shows Nearly Two-Thirds of Americans Worried About Socialism and Communism
A Center Square poll found that 63% of U.S. voters are uneasy about the rise of socialism or communism, with roughly a third very concerned.
The Center Square’s Voters Voice Poll, carried out by Noble Predictive Insights between Aug. 12 and 16, surveyed 2,533 registered voters nationwide and showed that 63% are uneasy about the expansion of socialism or communism in American politics, with 36% very concerned and 27% somewhat concerned. Only 29% said they were not concerned, including 13% who were not at all worried. The poll’s balanced sample included 930 Republicans, 930 Democrats and 673 Independents, of whom 330 were true independents.
The results surface as Republicans and some Democrats, including Senator John Fetterman and strategist James Carville, criticize the growing presence of democratic socialist candidates ahead of the November midterm elections. Prominent figures such as President Donald Trump, Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have also weighed in on the issue. The margin of error for the poll is +/- 2.0%.
