A recent Emerson College Polling/Nexstar Media Iowa poll of likely voters shows Republican Rep. Ashley Hinson ahead of Democratic state Rep. Josh Turek in the Senate race, earning 50% to Turek’s 45% with 5% still undecided. Compared with an August poll, Hinson’s lead widened from three to five points, though Turek leads among independents by two points. The survey, conducted Aug. 31-Sept. 1 among 750 respondents, carries a ±3.6% margin of error.
About six percent of participants indicated they would vote for Hinson while supporting Democrat Rob Sand for governor. The race highlights contrasting positions on immigration, with Hinson emphasizing border enforcement and Turek facing criticism for past votes and statements supporting illegal-immigrant rights.
