Poll shows socialist candidate ahead of MAGA rival in hypothetical 2028 race
A new survey indicates that 55% of likely voters would choose a socialist contender over a MAGA candidate in a simulated 2028 presidential contest.
A recent poll released by independent pollster Jeremy Zogby suggests that, if held today, a socialist candidate would defeat a Make America Great Again contender in a 2028 presidential matchup, garnering 55% support versus 33% for the MAGA option, with 22% of respondents undecided. Independent voters showed a strong preference for the socialist, 48% to 18%, while 41% of unaffiliated voters were still on the fence. Male respondents favored the socialist 42% to 36%, and parents of MAGA supporters were nearly tied at 41.6% for the socialist and 41.1% for the MAGA candidate.
An establishment Democrat also outperformed the MAGA candidate, receiving 50% support compared with 32%, and an establishment Republican performed better than the MAGA candidate but lagged behind both the socialist and the establishment Democrat. The findings highlight the challenges a future MAGA nominee faces in attracting voters who have drifted away from the former president’s base.
