Poolease X1 Pool Robot Review: Low-Cost Floor Cleaner Tested

The Poolease X1, a sub-$200 pool-scrubbing robot, was evaluated for its basic floor-cleaning performance.

The Poolease X1 is a budget-friendly pool-cleaning robot priced just over $100 and weighing roughly 9 pounds, making it comparable in size to a lunch box. Its propulsion relies solely on water jets, which propel the unit in a largely random zigzag pattern while suction draws debris from the pool floor. Because it has no rotating brushes, treads, or wall-scrubbing mechanisms, the X1 cannot address vertical surfaces, waterlines, or pool steps, restricting its function to the pool bottom.

The robot does not include a separate debris basket; instead, the two halves of the device capture material, and a filter screen prevents debris from re-entering the water stream. Cleaning the unit involves snapping open four clips, separating the halves, and rinsing the assembly with a hose.

Why it matters

Consumers can gauge whether a cheap, simple pool robot meets basic cleaning needs before buying.
