Popovic reshuffles Socceroos squad as two players withdraw before Brazil friendlies
Australia’s coach Tony Popovic has replaced the withdrawn Mohamed Toure and Alexander Robertson with winger Nishan Velupillay for upcoming matches against Brazil.
Two Socceroos, Mohamed Toure of Norwich City and Alexander Robertson of Cardiff City, were pulled from the Brazil friendlies for medical reasons. Popovic called up only one substitute, Nishan Velupillay, who plays for German third-division side Ingolstadt. The team will face Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil in Townsville on Friday and again in Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on Tuesday, marking their first games since the World Cup last-16 run and a step toward Asian Cup preparation.
