Porsche reports lower Q3 sales but returns to profit amid China slowdown
Porsche said third-quarter revenue fell short of forecasts, yet it posted an operating profit and met its margin target.
Porsche released its third-quarter results, showing a drop in revenue that fell below analysts’ projections. Despite the sales slump, the company generated an operating profit, achieving a 4.8% margin that aligned with expectations. Michael Leiters confirmed the company’s full-year guidance, projecting a post-tax profit of roughly 1.82 billion euros, a sharp rise from the 114 million euros recorded the previous year.
The decline in deliveries, especially in China, and a strategic pivot back toward internal-combustion development were highlighted as challenges. Porsche plans to raise its margin to between ten and fifteen percent over the next five years while targeting fewer than 200,000 units sold annually and reducing its workforce by up to 25%.
Why it matters
The results reveal how a major luxury car maker is reshaping strategy and employment after a sales dip.
