Portugal-born gang leader seeks release after massive truck theft ring
Raphaël C., a 37-year-old Portuguese national, appeared before the Versailles investigative court to request bail after being charged with organized truck theft and money-laundering.
The defendant, described as the “king of truck thieves,” faces accusations of leading a group that stole dozens of heavy-duty trucks in the Paris area and exported them to Portugal. He was previously detained following an indictment in Nanterre for participation in a criminal association, organized theft and laundering. The court hearing focused on his request for release pending trial, while prosecutors highlighted the scale of the operation.
