Portugal launches over 400 heritage events for European Heritage Days
Portugal is hosting more than 400 activities across the country as part of the European Heritage Days, running from Friday through the 27th.
From Friday until the 27th, Portugal will host more than 400 events under the European Heritage Days, an initiative of the Council of Europe and the European Commission. The year’s theme, “Revive, Resist, Reinvent,” invites reflection on how rapid societal changes and threats like digitalisation, climate crisis and conflicts endanger cultural heritage. The schedule features guided visits, exhibitions, workshops and talks at venues such as Palácio Fronteira, the Astronomical Observatory of Lisbon, and several monasteries and archaeological sites.
Special programmes for students include a heritage-creation contest and night-time tours of protected areas. Cities like Lisbon, Porto, Braga and Viana do Castelo offer unique experiences, while a closing panel in Vila Viçosa will discuss sustainable restoration solutions.
