Portuguese Dinis Ferreira Takes Silver at Junior World Triathlon in Spain
Dinis Ferreira earned silver in the junior world triathlon sprint in Pontevedra, marking Portugal’s first podium at that level.
At the junior world triathlon championships in Pontevedra, Spain, Dinis Ferreira secured the silver medal in the sprint distance, giving Portugal its first podium placement at this level. The race featured a 750-metre swim, 20-km bike and 5-km run, and included fellow Portuguese Ricardo Pissarra among the competitors. Ferreira’s performance followed a season of steady improvement and highlighted the rising strength of Portuguese triathlon.
In the women's field, Letícia Magalhães finished 29th and Catarina Santos 30th, both achieving the target of a top-30 world ranking. Hungarian Fanni Szalai dominated to win gold, with Switzerland’s Anouk Danna and Kimey Casanova taking silver and bronze. The Portuguese team will continue competing in upcoming events, with athletes such as Filipe Marques, Cassilda Carvalho, Matilde Santos, José Ferreira, Gustavo do Canto, Maria Tomé, Vasco Vilaça, Ricardo Batista, João Nuno Batista and Miguel Tiago Silva slated for later races.
