Powerhouse Parramatta Unveils Five Immersive Exhibitions Ahead of November Opening

Powerhouse Parramatta revealed its inaugural program of five immersive exhibitions, slated to open on 7 November, with free admission except for a charge to view Task Eternal.

Powerhouse Parramatta, a $915 million museum and gallery project, has announced its opening program of five immersive exhibitions scheduled for 7 November. The Dark offers a magical, multi-room adventure for children aged 4-12, created with Kip Williams, Elizabeth Gadsby and Marg Horwell. Es Devlin’s Turning presents five large-scale works that blend sculpture, film and performance.

Overflow, led by First Nations groups and filmmaker Ivan Sen, explores the significance of water systems across NSW. Task Eternal investigates humanity’s quest to conquer the sky, while The Mall examines the cultural history of shopping centres worldwide. Admission is free for all visitors, though a fee is required for Task Eternal, and CEO Lisa Havilah said the venue will redefine museum-community connections in Western Sydney.

Why it matters

The new museum will provide Western Sydney with a major cultural hub and showcase diverse, immersive art experiences.
