PP spokesman condemns government’s handling of Ceuta crisis and calls for apology

In a statement on Saturday, Borja Sémper, the Popular Party’s spokesperson and vice-secretary for Culture and Sport, attacked the Sánchez administration for its handling of the ongoing Ceuta crisis that began after a large-scale assault at the city’s border in late July. He argued that more than a month later the sole political responsibility taken was by a government adviser, a fact he described as absurd. Sémper claimed the official narrative has been false for the entire period and that ministries were warned about the planned attack.

He highlighted what he sees as a total lack of humility and an unwillingness to apologise for the deaths of over 140 people in Ceuta’s waters. The PP spokesman also warned that Morocco’s claims over Ceuta and Melilla constitute an aggression toward Spain that must be met with firm resistance when the PP assumes power.
