PP to Question Minister Bolaños Over Supreme Court Suspension of Grandchildren Law

The Partido Popular plans to bring a formal question to Minister Félix Bolaños during the Senate’s plenary on Tuesday, focusing on the Supreme Court’s decision to suspend the Ley de Nietos before the upcoming general election. Alfonso Serrano, a senator and PP’s Madrid secretary-general, will lead the interrogation. After the court halted the registration of newly naturalised citizens under the Ley de Memoria Democrática, Bolaños urged the court to resolve the issue quickly and later denounced the ruling on social media as legally questionable.

PP Senate spokesperson Alicia García claimed the government is attempting an unlawful expansion of the electoral census by over two million voters and warned that such a move threatens democracy. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez also expressed anger, accusing opposition parties of depriving thousands of Spaniards of their voting rights.
