PPCRV aims to finish BARMM vote audit by Wednesday
The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting says it will complete its unofficial parallel count of physical election returns from the first Bangsamoro parliamentary election by Wednesday.
The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting started a manual audit of the physical election returns from the inaugural Bangsamoro parliamentary election on Friday, having already examined 1,186 of the 5,212 returns from Maguindanao del Sur and sections of Lanao del Sur. PPCRV spokesperson Ana Singson said volunteers will work around the clock to finish the parallel count by Wednesday, with Fr. Dave Procalia personally transporting the remaining returns to the Makati command center by Tuesday afternoon.
The council performs a double-scanning process to verify the integrity of the votes transmitted by the automated counting machines, a practice in place since the 2010 automation shift. Initial mismatches in about ten to twelve returns were traced to scanning errors and corrected after further verification. Some returns were partially unreadable due to ink issues, a problem the council will raise with the Commission on Elections. The Comelec has already proclaimed all winning candidates for the 80-seat parliament.
