Prague deputy mayor calls for parking and transit fare reforms and warns metro S delays will stall city growth

Petr Hlaváček, deputy mayor for development and STAN candidate, explained that Prague failed to balance parking charges and public-transport fares during one outlet term. He argued that revisiting these prices should be a priority for the next coalition. Hlaváček warned that the city’s development will stall in the 2040s without the metro S, a metropolitan express line, and described how the Metropolitan plan can guide major projects like metro D and the city ring.

He also called for higher parking rates, stricter Airbnb limits, and faster delivery of housing through planning agreements, noting that 29 contracts have already launched about 40,000 new apartments. The mayor stressed the importance of coordinated investment and infrastructure to meet Prague’s growing population.
