Prague mayoral candidate Tomáš Portlík's undisclosed apartments linked to disputed land sales
Tomáš Portlík, ODS deputy chairman and Prague mayoral hopeful, owns three apartments through his firm that were omitted from his election disclosures, and acquired them after selling land in Teplice tied to a major tunnel scandal.
A review by the Prague city council revealed that Tomáš Portlík, deputy chairman of ODS and candidate for the city’s mayor, did not disclose three apartments owned via his company in either a pre-election questionnaire or his official asset register. The flats were purchased after Portlík sold almost 24,000 square metres of land in the northern part of Teplice, a site with significant development potential that is now being targeted by entrepreneur Jaroslav Třešňák for a large residential and commercial project.
The land sale was complicated by a nearly fifteen-year legal dispute, during which the previous owner blamed Portlík for participating in tunnel-related illegal activity. Central to the transaction was Miroslav Hálek, Portlík’s business associate, who has been tried for orchestrating one of the Czech Republic’s largest tunnel frauds. The revelations raise questions about transparency and possible conflicts of interest for a candidate seeking the mayoralty.
