Prague mayoral hopeful Tomáš Portlík criticised for omitting three owned apartments from ethics report

At a Thursday session of the Prague City Council, former mayor Zdeněk Hřib revealed that ODS mayoral candidate Tomáš Portlík recently bought three apartments - one each in Vysočany, Libeň and Žižkov - but did not report them in the council’s ethical code filing required of all councillors. Although the timing of the purchases means the legal conflict-of-interest deadline has not been missed, the omission breaches the council’s internal transparency standards and has drawn sharp rebuke from Hřib on social media.

Portlík has so far responded only with silence, declining phone calls and not replying to text messages. The controversy mirrors the earlier case of ANO politician Ondřej Prokop, who also failed to disclose three cooperative flats, a mistake that cost him a seat on a oversight committee and eventually led him to exit politics. Both incidents fuel ongoing tensions within Prague’s governing coalition, especially as housing affordability remains a central election issue. Critics warn that the undisclosed property holdings could become a reputational liability for Portlík ahead of the mayoral vote.
