Pregnant South Carolina woman and unborn child die after go-kart accident

Baylee Johnson, a 24-year-old expectant mother, was killed at a go-karting track in Sumter, South Carolina after her hair was pulled into the vehicle's sprocket, leading to a fatal neck injury. She was 16 weeks pregnant with her first child, a boy she had already named Johnny. The accident occurred on a Monday, and the Sumter County Coroner, Robbie Baker, confirmed that both Johnson and the unborn baby died.

Johnson's partner, Justin Lowder, had publicly shared the pregnancy news just four days prior, expressing hopes for their baby due in February. Family members described Johnson as caring and excited about motherhood, noting she was also a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephew.
