Preliminary autopsy released in Stavanger death case, partner remains detained
A preliminary autopsy report has been issued after a woman in her 20s was found dead in Våland, Stavanger, and her boyfriend has been held in pre-trial detention for two weeks.
A preliminary forensic report was finalized on Sunday following the discovery of a woman in her twenties dead at a residence in Våland, Stavanger, on Thursday afternoon. Police arrested her cohabitant, a man in his thirties, and placed him in isolated custody for two weeks. Prosecutors, represented by Colleen Magelssen, said the autopsy findings do not warrant any change to the existing indictment, which alleges the man failed to provide necessary aid while his partner lay helpless.
The suspect maintains he found her in an odd position, lifted her onto the bed, performed chest compressions, and then ran to a nearby driving school to contact emergency services. The Sør-Rogaland tingrett rejected this narrative as unlikely, leading to his continued detention. Defense attorney Helene Haugland told reporters she has not received the autopsy report and sees no basis for the neglect charge.
