Premier Energies launches India's largest 7 GW solar cell plant in Andhra Pradesh

Premier Energies has initiated trial operations at its N-type TOPCon G12R solar cell plant in Naidupeta, Andhra Pradesh, a 7 GW facility spread over 101 acres and costing ₹3,293 crore. The commissioning was completed on time and within the allocated budget, and the factory is designed to achieve roughly 25.8% average cell efficiency. It incorporates a Zero Liquid Discharge system to boost water recycling and reuse.

This plant forms a core component of a broader ₹12,500 crore investment program over three years, which includes expanding into ingot and wafer manufacturing as well as producing inverters, transformers, and battery energy storage systems. Sudhir Reddy, director and chief strategy officer, said the scale, automation and advanced technology will enhance competitiveness and supply-chain resilience. The development supports India's ambition to install 500 GW of non-fossil power capacity by 2030 and move toward net-zero emissions by 2070.
