President António José Seguro signs decrees extending fuel aid and urban rail benefits
President António José Seguro promulgated three government decrees, extending temporary fuel subsidies for primary sectors and widening the Green Rail Pass to urban train services in Lisbon, Porto and Fertagus.
On Friday, President António José Seguro enacted three legislative measures. The first amends Decree-Law 80-A/2026, keeping in place temporary financial relief for the agricultural, forestry, fishing and aquaculture sectors as fuel prices climb. The second modifies Decree-Law 73/2024, broadening the scope of the Passe Ferroviário Verde to cover urban rail services, notably CP lines in Lisbon and Porto and the Fertagus network.
The third changes Decree-Law 100/2023, granting a short-term extension to current assistance licences at the airports of Lisbon, Porto and Faro. These actions aim to cushion key economic areas from fuel cost pressures and promote public transport use in major cities.
