President appoints Olivia Diana Morar as honorary adviser on public policy and education

The President signed a decree naming Olivia Diana Morar an honorary adviser for public policy and education, after her prior nomination as vice-prime minister in the Veștea government.

The President issued a decree appointing Olivia Diana Morar as an honorary adviser on public policy and education. Morar, a lawyer, previously held the role of state secretary at the Ministry of Justice during the Ludovic Orban administration. In 2025 she was part of Nicușor Dan’s campaign staff ahead of the presidential election.

She was later nominated as vice-prime minister without portfolio in the Veștea government, but the cabinet failed to pass a parliamentary vote. Her declared assets list at least sixteen houses and apartments, four of which are solely owned by her. Morar also served as a local councilor for the PNL in Bistrița and led the PNL women’s organization in the county.

Why it matters

The appointment highlights the President’s use of honorary advisory roles to place politically connected figures in influential policy positions.
